Sheet Metal news in TopSolid 7.7

Because the sheet metal functionality being developed among the first parts of TopSolid 7 it´s been quite capable even since the release of TopSolid 7.2.

Obvoiusly there aren´t alot of news about it because of that and also the fact of new “modules” being added with every new release. But that doesn´t mean that sheet metal design is left behind. It´s in constant development and desereves some attention.

Now, this might not be groundbreaking news but here are some news in TopSolid 7.7.
_
1. We’re now able to identify and simplify (or extract) corner reliefs independently of the way it have been designed.
(See video below).

2. In unfolding, we now have an option to specify whether the selected origin face is going to be “put on” or “turned over” to position the flat pattern on its destination coordinates system.

Note that the bending side are inverted to prevent from produce the symmetrical part!

3. We now have an option in the unfolding to extract spot facing and csinking on the unfolding and keep only the base hole with its diameter

4. In unfolding rules document, if you have several bending tools with the same radius for a given thickness, you can set on of it as your preferred one.
Thus, your unfolding will not failed because he is not able to found the correct tool among several possible ones.
